Jeff Carpoff had a lot to celebrate as friends and business associates gathered at his company’s Christmas party last year.

Stephanie Seneff, a PhD from MIT University, studies glyphosate, the active ingredient in the pervasive herbicide known as Roundup that’s made by Monsanto, the massive agrochemical giant that was recently purchased by Bayer pharmaceuticals. Dr. Seneff and many other scientists from around the world have published several papers outlining the very clear and very obvious dangers that glyphosate poses to human and environmental health. Not only do we have a wealth of data, but there are also numerous court cases (more than 10,000 pending) that have ruled in favour of the people, linking glyphosate with causing cancer. On top of that, we also have information showing the extreme corruption that exists within these corporations in conjunction with our federal health regulatory agencies that allow substances containing glyphosate to be on the market. This type of corruption is worldwide. For example, the substance was recently relicensed and approved by European Parliament. However, MEPs found the science given to them was plagiarized, full of industry science written by Monsanto.

Glyphosate has been used extensively both as an herbicide and a crop desiccant. It’s highly pervasive in our food supply and is found in many non-organic foods. For example, the non profit group Moms Across America recently discovered glyphosate was present in several popular orange juice brands across America. It’s been found in many popular foods, especially those marketed to children.

Dr. Seneff explains that autism as well as many other neurological diseases begin in the gut, with the disruption of the gut microbiome being a key initiating event in these diseases. In fact, the idea and evidence that autism starts in the gut has been published for decades and reported on by media for the same amount of time. Here is one of the latest examples, but more keep emerging every year.

Here’s a great quote from a recent study published regarding the role of the gut micro-biome in autism:

The gut microbiota is believed to play a pivotal role in human health and disease through involvement in physiological homoeostasis, immunological development, glutathione metabolism, amino acid metabolism, etc., which in a reasonable way explain the role of gut-brain axis in autism. Branded as a neurodevelopmental disorder with psychiatric impairment and often misclassified as a mental disorder, many experts in the field think that a therapeutic solution to autism is unlikely to emerge. (source)

Dr. Seneff’s research has shown that glyphosate disrupts the gut microbiome, and that it  “also disrupts peristalsis and the digestion of proteins and fats. Undigested proteins induce a leaky gut barrier and subsequently a leaky brain barrier. Autoimmune attack on the myelin sheaths impairs nerve fibers and disrupts neuron communication channels. Impaired sulfation and methylation pathways, common in autism, can be explained through glyphosate’s insidious, cumulative toxic effects acting as an analogue of the coding amino acid glycine.” (taken from video presentation below)

Below is a few of the papers she’s published on the subject:

A Very Informative Lecture That Goes Further Into Detail

In the lecture below, Dr. Seneff goes into great detail regarding her research, and explains foods that can potentially help to detoxify the body of glyphosate and other toxic chemicals and potentially help reverse some of the symptoms of autism.

Her Autism Presentations From 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Takeaway

Those of you who have been involved in the past in the battle to protect our children from poorly made vaccines or toxic chemicals in our food or in our water know the power of these industries and how they’ve undermined every institution in our democracy that is supposed to protect little children from powerful, greedy corporations. Even the pharmaceutical companies have been able to purchase congress. They’re the largest lobbying entity in Washington D.C.. They have more lobbyists in Washington D.C. than there are congressman and senators combined. They give twice to congress what the next largest lobbying entity is, which is oil and gas… Imagine the power they exercise over both republicans and democrats. They’ve captured them (our regulatory agencies) and turned them into sock puppets. They’ve compromised the press… and they destroy the publications that publish real science.  – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (source)

At the end of the day, regardless of how substances like glyphosate get into our food or are allowed in our products, it’s us who are using them. This is why awareness is key because WE can choose to stop spraying our lawns, WE can choose to eat organic food, and WE are the ones who need to stop using these products to put them out of business.

For as long as there has been human language, humans have been using it to manipulate one another. The fact that it is possible to skillfully weave a collection of symbolic mouth noises together in such a way as to extract favors, concessions, votes and consent from other humans has made manipulation so common that it now pervades our society from top to bottom, from personal relationships between two people to international relationships between government agencies and the public.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

This has made it very difficult to figure out what’s going on, both in our lives and in the world. Here are thirty-two suggestions for navigating this complex manipulation-laden landscape, whether it be for navigating the manipulations you may encounter in your small-scale personal interactions, or the large-scale manipulations which impact the entire world:

1 – Understand the fact that humans are storytelling animals, and that whoever controls the stories controls the humans. Mental narrative dominates human consciousness; thought is essentially one continuous, churning monologue about the self and what it reckons is going on in its world, and that monologue is composed entirely of mental stories. These stories can and will be manipulated, on an individual scale by people we encounter and on a mass scale by skillful propagandists. We base our actions on our mental assessments of what’s going on in the world, and those mental assessments can be manipulated by narrative control.

Society Is Made Of Narrative. Realizing This Is Awakening From The Matrix.

This is the clearest I’ve been able to sum it all up so far.https://t.co/JqbZMKn7ov

— Caitlin Johnstone ⏳ (@caitoz) August 22, 2018

2 – Be humble and open enough to know that you can be fooled. Your cognitive wiring is susceptible the same hacks as everyone else, and manipulators of all sorts are always looking to exploit those vulnerabilities. It’s not shameful to be deceived, it’s shameful to deceive people. Don’t let shame and cognitive dissonance keep you compartmentalized away from considering the possibility that you’ve been duped in some way.

3 – Watch people’s behavior and ignore the stories they tell about their behavior. This applies to people in your life, to politicians, and to governments. Narratives can be easily manipulated and distorted in many different ways, while behavior itself, when examined with as much objectivity as possible, cannot be. Pay attention to behavior in this way and eventually you’ll start noticing a large gap between what some people’s actions say and what their words say. Those people are the manipulators. Distrust them.

4 – Be suspicious of people who keep telling you what they are and how they are, because they’re trying to manipulate your narrative about them. Be doubly suspicious of people who keep telling you what you are and how you are, because they’re trying to manipulate your narrative about you.

5 – Learn to see how trust and sympathy are used by manipulators to trick people into subscribing to their narratives about what’s going on. Every manipulator uses trust and/or sympathy as a primer for their manipulations, because if you don’t have trust or sympathy for them, you’re not going to mentally subscribe to their stories. This is true of mass media outlets, it’s true of State Department press releases which implore you to have sympathy for the people of Nation X, and it’s true of family members and coworkers. Once you’ve spotted a manipulator, your task is to kill off all of your sympathy for them and your trust in them, no matter how hard they start playing the victim to suck you back in.

6 – Be suspicious of anyone who refuses to articulate themselves clearly. Word salading is a tactic notoriously used by abusive narcissists, because it keeps the victim confused and unable to figure out what’s going on. If they can’t get a clear handle on what the manipulative abuser is saying, they can’t form their own solid position in relation to it, and the abuser knows this. Insist on lucid communication, and if it’s refused to you, remove trust and sympathy. Apply this to people in your life, to government officials, and to 8chan propaganda constructs.

Happy #EarthDay This is a 10 minute read but worth your time. https://t.co/yTKPC5A1qn

— Matthew Inman (@Oatmeal) April 22, 2019

7 – Familiarize yourself with cognitive biases, the glitches in human cognition which cause us to perceive things in a way that is not rational. Pay special attention to confirmation bias, the backfire effect, and the illusory truth effect. Humans have an annoying tendency to seek out cognitive ease in their information-gathering and avoid cognitive dissonance, rather than seeking out what’s true regardless of whether it brings us cognitive ease or dissonance. This means we tend to choose what we believe based on whether believing it is psychologically comfortable, rather than whether it’s solidly backed by facts and evidence. This is a weakness in our cognitive wiring, and manipulators can and do exploit it constantly. And, again, be humble enough to know that this means you.

8 – Trust your own understanding above anyone else’s. It might not be perfect, but it’s a damn sight better than letting your understanding be controlled by narrative managers and dopey partisan groupthink, or by literally anyone else in a narrative landscape that is saturated with propaganda and manipulation. You won’t get everything right, but betting on your own understanding is the very safest bet on the table. It can be intimidating to stand alone and sort out the true from the false by yourself on an instance-by-instance basis, but the alternative is giving someone else authority over your understanding of the world. Abdicating your responsibility to come to a clear understanding of what’s going on in your world is a shameful, cowardly thing to do. Be brave enough to insist that you are right until such time as you yourself come to your own understanding that you were wrong.

9 – Understand that propaganda is the single most overlooked and under-appreciated aspect of our society. Everyone’s constantly talking about what’s wrong with the world, but hardly any of those discussions are centered around the fact that the public been manipulated into supporting the creation and continuation of those problems by mass media propaganda. The fact that powerful people are constantly manipulating the way we think, act and vote should be at the forefront of everyone’s awareness, not relegated to occasional discussions in fringe circles.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

10 – Respect the fact that the science of modern propaganda has been in research and development for over a century. Think of all the military advancements that have been made in the last century to get an idea of how sophisticated this science must now be. They are far, far ahead of us in terms of research and understanding of the methods of manipulating the human psyche toward ends which benefit the powerful. If you ever doubt that the narrative managers could be advanced and cunning enough to pull off a given manipulation, you can lay that particular doubt to rest. Don’t underestimate them.

11 – Understand that western mass media propaganda rarely consists of full, outright lies. At most, such outlets will credulously publish the things that are told to them by government agencies which lie all the time. More often, the deception comes in the form of distortions, half-truths, and omissions. Pay more attention to discrepancies in things that are covered versus things that aren’t, and to what they’re not saying.

12 – Put effort into developing a good news-sense, a sense for what’s newsworthy and what’s not. This takes time and practice, but it lets you see which newsworthy stories are going unreported by the mass media and which non-stories are being overblown to shape an establishment-friendly narrative. When you’ve got that nailed down, you’ll notice “Why are they acting like this is a news story?” and “Why is nobody reporting this??” stories all the time.

13 – Be patient and compassionate with yourself when it comes to developing your narrative navigating skills. Like literally any skill set, you’ll suck at it for a while. If you learn you’ve been wrong about something, just take in the new information, adjust appropriately, and keep plugging away. Don’t expect to have mastered this thing before you’ve had time to master it. Like anything else, if you put in the hours you’ll get good at it.

14 – Find reliable news reporters who have a good sense for navigating the narrative matrix, and keep track of them to orient yourself and stay on top of what’s going on. Use individual reporters, not outlets; no outlet is 100 percent solid, but some reporters are pretty close on some specific subjects. Click this hyperlink for an article on one way to do build a customized and reliable news stream. Click this hyperlink for a list of all my favorite news reporters on Twitter right now.

How To Make A Solid, Customized News Stream That Isn’t Manipulated By Silicon Valley

“It can be hard to find a supply of information about what’s going on in the world that isn’t being manipulated by power.”#MediaLiteracy #revolution #propagandahttps://t.co/xRyBtDJx2Y

— Caitlin Johnstone ⏳ (@caitoz) October 4, 2018

15 – Don’t let paranoia be your primary or only tool for navigating the narrative matrix. Some people’s only means of understanding the world is to become intensely suspicious of everything and everyone, which is about as useful as a compass which tells you that every direction is north. Spend time in conspiracy and media criticism circles and you’ll run into many such people. Rejecting everything as false leaves you with nothing as true. Find positive tools for learning what’s true.

16 – Hold your worldview loosely enough that you can change it at any time in the light of new information, but not so loosely that it can be slapped out of your head by someone telling you what to think in a confident, authoritative tone. As Carl Sagan once said, “It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.”

17 – Speaking of confident, authoritative tones, be suspicious of confident, authoritative tones. It’s amazing how much traction people can get with a narrative just by posturing as though they know that what they’re saying is true, whether they’re an MSNBC pundit or a popular conspiracy Youtuber. So many people are just plain faking it, because it works. You run into this all the time in debates on online political forums; people come at you with a supremely confident posture, but if you push them to present their knowledge on the subject and the strength of their arguments, there’s not actually anything there. They’re just accustomed to people assuming they know what they’re talking about and leaving their claims unchallenged, and it completely throws them off when someone doesn’t buy their feigned confidence schtick.

18 – Be aware that sociopaths exist. There are people who, to varying degrees, do not care what happens to others, and these are the types of people who will use manipulation to get their way whenever it serves them. If you don’t care about truth or other people beyond the extent to which you can use them, then there’s no disincentive to manipulating.

19 – Be aware of projection, and be aware of the fact that it cuts both ways: unhealthy people tend to project their wickedness onto others, while healthy people tend to project their goodness. Don’t let your goodness trick you into thinking there aren’t monsters who will deceive and manipulate you, and don’t let sociopaths project their own sinister motives onto you by telling you how rotten you are. This mixes a lot of good people up, especially in their personal lives. Not everyone is good, and not everyone is truthful. See this clearly.

20 – Be suspicious of those who excessively advocate civility, rules and politeness. Manipulators thrive on rules and civility, because they know how to manipulate them. Someone who’s willing to color outside the lines and get angry at someone noxious even when they’re acting within the rules makes a manipulator very uncomfortable. Often times those telling you to calm down and behave yourself when you are rightfully upset are manipulators who have a vested interest in getting you to adhere to the rules set they’ve learned to operate within.

How To Wake Up

“I’ve been putting off writing this article all year, but readers keep asking for it, and since I’ve been writing about mass enlightenment a lot lately I figure I might as well slip it in now.”#enlightenment #spiritualityhttps://t.co/gmxHh267LX

— Caitlin Johnstone ⏳ (@caitoz) September 1, 2018

21 – Meditation, mindfulness, self-inquiry and other practices are powerful tools which can help you understand your own inner processes, which in turn helps you understand how manipulators can manipulate you, and how they manipulate others. Just be sure that you are using them for this purpose, not for escapism as most “spiritual” types do. You’re trying to become fully aware of what makes you tick mentally, emotionally and energetically; you’re not trying to become some vapid spiritual bliss bunny. The goal isn’t to feel better, the goal is to get better at feeling. Better at consciously experiencing your own inner world.

22 – Be relentlessly honest with yourself about your own inner narratives and the various ways you engage in manipulation. You can’t navigate your way through the narrative control matrix if you aren’t clear on your own role in it. Look inside and consciously take an inventory.

(function(w,d,s,i){w.ldAdInit=w.ldAdInit||[];w.ldAdInit.push({slot:10162674340441958,size:[0, 0],id:"ld-8962-3608"});if(!d.getElementById(i)){var j=d.createElement(s),p=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];j.async=true;j.src="//cdn2.lockerdomecdn.com/_js/ajs.js";j.id=i;p.parentNode.insertBefore(j,p);}})(window,document,"script","ld-ajs");

23 – Understand that truth doesn’t generally move in a way that is pleasing to the ego, i.e. in a way Hollywood scripts are written to appeal to. Any narrative that points to a Hollywood ending where the bad guy gets karate kicked into lava and the hero gets the girl is manufactured. Russiagate and QAnon are both perfect examples of an egoically pleasing narrative with the promise of a Hollywood ending, either by Trump and his cohorts being dragged off in chains or by the “white hats” overcoming the Deep State and throwing all the Democrats and Never-Trumpers in prison for pedophilia. Ain’t gonna happen, folks.

24 – Try to view the world with fresh eyes rather than with your tired old grown-up eyes which have taught you to see all this as normal. Hold an image in your mind of what a perfectly healthy and harmonious world would look like; the sharp contrast between this image and the world we have now allows you see through the campaign of the propagandists to normalize things like war, poverty, ecocide, and impotent electoral systems which keep seeing the same government behavior regardless of who people vote for. None of this is normal.

25 – Know that the truth has no political party, and neither do the social engineers. All political parties are used to manipulate the masses in various ways, and nuggets of truth can and do emerge from any of them. Thinking along partisan lines is guaranteed to give you a distorted view. Ignore the imaginary lines between the parties. You may be certain that your rulers do.

26 – Remain always aware of this simple dynamic: the people who become billionaires are generally the ones who are sociopathic enough to do whatever it takes to get ahead. This class has been able to buy up near-total narrative control via media ownership/influence, corporate lobbying, think tank funding, and campaign finance, and are thus able to manipulate the public into consenting to agendas which benefit nobody but plutocrats and their lackeys. This explains pretty much every major problem that we are facing right now.

The Legal Narrative Funnel That’s Being Used To Extradite Assange

How warped interpretations of technicalities in Ecuadorian, British and American law allow for a journalist to be imprisoned for telling the truth while keeping the illusion of democracy.https://t.co/OaBVDeuyax

— Caitlin Johnstone ⏳ (@caitoz) April 13, 2019

27 – Understand that nations are pure narrative constructs; they only exist to the extent that people agree to pretend that they do. The narrative managers know this, and they exploit the fact that most of us don’t. Take Julian Assange, perfect example: he was pried out of the embassy and imprisoned by an extremely obvious collaborationbetween the US, UK, Sweden, Ecuador, and Australia, yet they each pretended that they were acting as separate, sovereign nations completely independently of one another. Sweden pretended it was deeply concerned about rape allegations, the UK pretended it was deeply concerned about a bail violation, Ecuador pretended it was deeply concerned about skateboarding and embassy cat hygiene, the US pretended it was deeply concerned about the particulars of the way Assange helped Chelsea Manning cover her tracks, Australia pretended it was too deeply concerned about honoring the sovereign affairs of these other countries to intervene on behalf of its citizen, and it all converged in a way that just so happened to look exactly the same as imprisoning a journalist for publishing facts. You see this same dynamic constantly, whether it’s with military interventions, trade deals, or narrative-shaping campaigns against non-aligned governments.

28 – Understand that war is the glue which holds the US-centralized empire together. Without the carrot of military/economic alliance and the stick of military/economic violence, the US-centralized empire would cease to exist. This is why war propaganda is constant and sometimes so forced that glaring plot holes become exposed; it’s so important that they need to force it through, even if they can’t get the narrative matrix around it constructed just right. If they ceased manufacturing consent for the empire’s relentless warmongering, people would lose all trust in government and media institutions, and those institutions would lose the ability to propagandize the public effectively. Without the ability to propagandize the public effectively, our rulers cannot rule.

29 – Remember that when it comes to foreign policy, the neocons are always wrong. They’ve been so remarkably consistent in this for so long that whenever there’s a question about any narrative involving hostilities between the US-centralized power alliance and any other nation, you can just look at what Bill Kristol, Max Boot and John Bolton are saying about it and believe the exact opposite. They’re actually a very helpful navigation tool in this way.

30 – Notice how the manipulators like to split the population in two and then get them arguing over how they should serve the establishment. Arguing over whether it’s better to vote Democrat or Republican, arguing over whether it’s better to increase hostilities with Iran and Venezuela or with Syria and Russia, over whether you should support the US president or the FBI, arguing over how internet censorship should happen and whomshould be censored rather than if censorship should happen in the first place. The longer they can keep us arguing over the best way to lick the imperial boot, the longer they keep us from talking about whether we want to lick it at all.

31 – Watch out for appeals to emotion. It’s much easier to manipulate someone by appealing to their feely bits rather than their capacity for rational analysis, which is why any time they want to manufacture support for military interventionism you see pictures of dead children on news screens everywhere rather than a logical argument for the advantages of using military violence based on a thorough presentation of facts and evidence. You see the same strategy used in the guilt trips they lay on third-party voters; it’s all emotional hyperbole that crumbles under any fact-based analysis, but they use it because it works. They go after your heart strings to circumvent your head.

32 – Pay attention to how much propaganda goes into maintaining the propaganda machine itself. This is done this because propaganda is just that central to the maintenance of dominant power structures. Much effort is spent building trust in establishment narrative management outlets while sowing distrust in sources of dissent. You’ll see entire propaganda campaigns built around accomplishing solely this.

Every parent knows the difference a year makes in the development and maturity of a young child. A one-year-old is barely walking while a two-year-old gleefully sprints away from you. A four-year-old is always moving, always imagining, always asking why, while a five-year-old may start to sit and listen for longer stretches.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Growing Expectations vs. Human Behavior

Children haven’t changed, but our expectations of their behavior have. In just one generation, children are going to school at younger and younger ages, and are spending more time in school than ever before. They are increasingly required to learn academic content at an early age that may be well above their developmental capability.

In 1998, 31 percent of teachers expected children to learn to read in kindergarten. In 2010, 80 percent of teachers expected this. Now, children are expected to read in kindergarten and to become proficient readers soon after, despite research showing that pushing early literacy can do more harm than good.

In their report Reading in Kindergarten: Little to Gain and Much to Loseeducation professor Nancy Carlsson-Paige and her colleagues warn about the hazards of early reading instruction. They write,

When children have educational experiences that are not geared to their developmental level or in tune with their learning needs and cultures, it can cause them great harm, including feelings of inadequacy, anxiety and confusion.

Hate The Player, Love the Game

Instead of recognizing that schooling is the problem, we blame the kids. Today, children who are not reading by a contrived endpoint are regularly labeled with a reading delay and prescribed various interventions to help them catch up to the pack. In school, all must be the same. If they are not listening to the teacher, and are spending too much time daydreaming or squirming in their seats, young children often earn an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) label and, with striking frequency, are administered potent psychotropic medications.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that approximately 11 percent of children ages four to seventeen have been diagnosed with ADHD, and that number increased 42 percent from 2003-2004 to 2011-2012, with a majority of those diagnosed placed on medication. Perhaps more troubling, one-third of these diagnoses occur in children under age six.

Children who start school as the youngest in their grade have a greater likelihood of getting an ADHD diagnosis than older children in their grade.

It should be no surprise that as we place young children in artificial learning environments, separated from their family for long lengths of time, and expect them to comply with a standardized, test-driven curriculum, it will be too much for many of them.

New findings by Harvard Medical School researchers confirm that it’s not the children who are failing, it’s the schools we place them in too early. These researchers discovered that children who start school as among the youngest in their grade have a much greater likelihood of getting an ADHD diagnosis than older children in their grade. In fact, for the U.S. states studied with a September 1st enrollment cut-off date, children born in August were 30 percent more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than their older peers.

The study’s lead researcher at Harvard, Timothy Layton, concludes: “Our findings suggest the possibility that large numbers of kids are being overdiagnosed and overtreated for ADHD because they happen to be relatively immature compared to their older classmates in the early years of elementary school.”

This Should Come as No Surprise

Parents don’t need Harvard researchers to tell them that a child who just turned five is quite different developmentally from a child who is about to turn six. Instead, parents need to be empowered to challenge government schooling motives and mandates, and to opt-out.

As universal government preschool programs gain traction, delaying schooling or opting out entirely can be increasingly difficult for parents. Iowa, for example, recently lowered its compulsory schooling age to four-year-olds enrolled in a government preschool program.

As New York City expands its universal pre-K program to all of the city’s three-year-olds, will compulsory schooling laws for preschoolers follow? On Monday, the New York City Department of Education issued a white paperdetailing a “birth-to-five system of early care and education,” granting more power to government officials to direct early childhood learning and development.

As schooling becomes more rigid and consumes more of childhood, it is causing increasing harm to children. Many of them are unable to meet unrealistic academic and behavioral expectations at such a young age, and they are being labeled with and medicated for delays and disorders that often only exist within a schooled context. Parents should push back against this alarming trend by holding onto their kids longer or opting out of forced schooling altogether.

New research found high levels of radiation in giant clams near a 42-year old nuclear waste site in the Central Pacific. The findings have scientists concerned that pollution from the site is leaving the enclosed structure and leaking into the ocean and the food chain, according to the Los Angeles Times.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The radioactive clams were found near Runit Dome, which locals call “The Tomb,” on the Enewatik Atoll on the Marshall Islands. The clams are a local delicacy and popular in China, which has had a voracious appetite for them in recent years, according to the Los Angeles Times. Yet, the findings suggest that either radiation is oozing out of Runit Dome or the waste from past weapons testing was not adequately cleaned up.

From 1946 to 1958, the U.S. carried out 67 nuclear weapons tests at Bikini and Enewetak atolls, including the 1954 “Bravo” hydrogen bomb, the most powerful detonated by the U.S. It was about 1,000 times bigger than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II, according to Aljazeera.

Radioactive ash fell more than 7,000 square miles from the test site and it blanketed the nearby islands. Children played in the white, powdery substance and ate it like it was snow, Marshall Islands health minister would later testify, according to the Atomic Heritage Foundation.

In 1977, the U.S. tipped soil and ash from the explosions into a crater on Runit Island and topped it with an 18-inch thick concrete dome. However, it was supposed to be a temporary fix and the bottom of the crater was never properly insulated, according to CBS News. After decades of exposure to the elements, cracks in the concrete are evident, raising concerns that a fierce tropical cyclone could breach the structure.

Recently, the UN Secretary General António Guterres addressed concerns over the legacy of nuclear testing. “The consequences of these have been quite dramatic, in relation to health, in relation to the poisoning of waters in some areas,” he said in Fiji, CBS Newsreported. “I’ve just been with the president of the Marshall Islands (Hilda Heine), who is very worried because there is a risk of leaking of radioactive materials that are contained in a kind of coffin in the area.”

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

According to a 2017 report by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the nuclear fallout included plutonium-239, an isotope that is one of the world’s most toxic substances, and one with a radioactive half-life of 24,100 years.

“The bottom of the dome is just what was left behind by the nuclear weapons explosion,” Michael Gerrard, the chair of Columbia University’s Earth Institute, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. “It’s permeable soil. There was no effort to line it. And therefore, the seawater is inside the dome.”

The U.S. Department of Energy scientists say that the shellfish with elevated radiation levels near Runit Dome are safe to eat in small quantities and are contaminated because of the initial nuclear testing, not because of any contamination leaking out of the dome, according to the Los Angeles Times. Yet, the scientists do admit that its groundwater, which leaks into the lagoon and ocean, is severely contaminated.

Yet, some locals who attended the Department of Energy’s presentation, cast doubt on the conclusions.

“What they’re saying is, here is the dome. And here, in the lagoon area, there is radiation. … But as far as leaking from the dome, we don’t think that’s the case?” said James Matayoshi, mayor of Rongelap Atoll, one of the atolls contaminated by fallout from the nuclear testing program, the Los Angeles Times reported. “That doesn’t make any sense.

Heard of Tulsi Gabbard? Great if you have, I’m not surprised if you haven’t.

She is a ‘non-establishment’ Democratic candidate for the 2020 presidential election in the US. In today’s terms, this pretty well means she’s an independent but using the Democratic party to give her greater chances of winning and having a platform. My words, not hers.

For those that have taken a step back and realized the issues we face in our world truly come down to the very core of our systems, the few elites that run them, and their work to suppress human spirit and consciousness, you will likely resonate with what Tulsi is saying in her recent speech at the 2019 California Democrats State Convention speech.

Let me give you an example of what I mean about seeing the challenges we truly face from a bigger picture.

The chances of you hearing anything about this speech of hers is almost nil. The reason for that comes down to something you might call “accepted election meddling” whereby the US establishment mainstream media and tech giants like Facebook, Instagram and Google, will choose not to focus or give any attention to candidates that don’t fit the bill of who is being chosen to be the next President.

We saw this in 2016 when the US media would collaborate to run negative stories all at once about Bernie Sanders. (WaPo ran 16 in one day.) There was little to no honest coverage of the damaging facts about Hillary Clinton and how eventually the DNC worked together to knock out Bernie Sanders from even having a chance at election.

All of this, when viewed from a standpoint of honest, big picture common sense, would be seen as election meddling. Unfortunately, our current culture does not see it this way, and instead, we continue to play ball in our outdated systems.

Tulsi’s Speech

One part of Gabbard’s speech at CADEM 2019 reveals a big reason why she would be receiving very little attention from mass media, regardless of the fact that she is a war veteran, has been in politics for over 17 years, is a House representative since 2013, and has no highly controversial positions that would tarnish her candidacy.

“As your president I will bring the spirit of service above self to the White House, putting people ahead of profits, putting the well-being and the interests of the American people above all else. As president I will crack down on Big Pharma and insurance companies who extort the sick, putting their profits above the health of our people. I’ll work to pass Medicare for all, and make sure that any American. who is sick and in need of care gets the care that they need. As president, I’ll reinstate the Glass-Steagall act, break up the big banks on Wall Street, the big banks that gamble with our money and our future. I’ll crack down on overreaching intelligence agencies, the big tech companies who take away our civil liberties in the name of national security and corporate greed. I will break up those big tech monopolies and stand up and protect our constitutional right to privacy.

A great deal of what she says in just that portion of her speech is directly a threat to the long-standing power structure that has had an aggressive hold over the American people for many, many decades. A planned, well-groomed and highly calculated hold that the SAME financial and powerful elite have had regardless of who is president.

Mass media and the establishment does not appreciate candidates that seek to shine light on how our world and systems truly function, and thus you likely don’t know much about her.

Pharma runs congress, better not let the public figure that out. Intelligence agencies are slowly creeping in over the American people’s last ounces of privacy, can’t let them know how far that has gone. Tech companies and media have almost complete control over what people think and the conversations they have, can’t lose that powerful mass manipulation train. We don’t even need to get into Wall Street and bankers…

You get my point. Bringing attention to the powerful elite and their games is not attractive for them, thus they attempt to keep certain people quiet.

But there is something very important to recognize here, as this is a great opportunity for people…

Breaking The Illusion

What American people HAVE to begin to realize is that their country does not work the way they think it does. The illusion must be broken. There is no: ‘Hey let’s have an election! And by golly the best person chosen by the people will win!” Elections are about giving the American people the illusion of a choice. It’s a complex system, but many years of research clearly indicates that Deep State individuals work with many aspects of our system to get the results they desire. Whether it be changing Google search results, knocking certain candidates out of Facebook’s news feeds, providing little to no mainstream media coverage of candidates that challenge the mainstream conjecture, and when all else fails, conspiring to remove candidates from the election like what we saw with Bernie in 2016.

This is why our position and analysis on how Trump won in 2016 comes down to various groups within the powerful elite who conspired to go in a ‘different’ direction than what other powerful people had planned. This became a battle within the Deep State itself. Groups moving away from a highly dystopian future, to one that is simply significantly less dystopian. Neither, however, are where humanity will thrive.

I understand what I just expressed is not going to be clear to everyone and contains many nuances. It’s even very contrary to the emotional positions we have been convinced to take on this current presidency, but if we are to get anywhere, understanding truth and nuance is key right now. Perhaps one of the better ways to explore this reality is in this segment I did on The Collective Evolution Show on CETV.

Check out Tulsi’s full speech below.

Changing The Conversation

Now, I say all of this with the idea that I honestly and truly believe, after 11 years of deep research into the truth about how our systems function and how they tie in with the fact that humanity simply does not thrive as a human race, we must get together and figure out how to change the very core of our systems.

I’m not talking about removing the electoral college for example, I’m talking about getting together and beginning the conversation about how we can move beyond the many factors within our made up systems that truly hold back good ideas and potential.

No more should we be arguing about how to fit good, necessary ideas into a broken system. Instead, we should be throwing out the old system and creating a new one that doesn’t shut out people’s talents, skills, desires and ability to thrive.

It will be a process, one that may not present solutions immediately, but without talking, it will go nowhere. Simply going out and voting without working to change the conversation, will also lead nowhere.

The Takeaway

We’re in a time where there are many signs pointing to how our system is rigged and that it’s time we do something about it. We don’t need to gather arms and revolt against the entire thing, we simply need to change the conversation, tap into possibility, seek what’s truly out there and organize as a people. Unity is huge! The more divided we are, and the more we fall into the traps the elite put forth, the more they can continue having us think we are powerless and should fight one another.

This isn’t about us vs them either, this is simply about seeing their existence as a sign of our own lack of self-awareness and lack of self-responsibility.

In the first quarter of this year, China added 5.2 gigawatts (GW) of installed photovoltaic (PV) capacity, according to the National Energy Administration. The figure is a drop from the 9.65 GW in the same period of 2018, due to the new policy on the construction of PV facilities for 2019 having been issued later in the year than similar policies issued in earlier years.

War is not what most people think it is. We’re told that war is necessary, that soldiers are and have been overseas ‘fighting for our freedom’ and sacrificing their lives in order to keep our homeland safe. It’s a narrative that’s still pushed today and it’s backed by a massive propaganda campaign that beams patriotism into the hearts of the masses; meanwhile, very few people ever question what’s actually happening. We are made to believe that war and the entire military establishment are necessities, but they’re not. People have been sharing this opinion for a very long time, those of us who actually think for ourselves instead of simply believing everything that’s presented to us without ever questioning it. Take Mark Twain, for example, who explained the behaviour of the global elite to which I am referring to quite well:

The statesman will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them: and thus he will by and by convince himself the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception. (source)

Today, this represents so much more than an opinion. In order to keep patriotism flowing and money feeding into the military industrial complex, we are made to believe war is necessary. More people have become aware of what’s known as ‘false flag’ terrorism. One of the more recent examples of false-flag terrorism would be the supposed chemical gas attack in Syria. False-flag terrorism means that these acts were covertly carried out by one country (in this case it was the United States) and blamed on the home country (Syria), all for the purpose of justifying a specific goal (US military intervention). It’s important to keep in mind that these aren’t just beliefs, they’re facts that are backed by tremendous amounts of evidence, so much so that current presidential candidate and military veteran Tulsi Gabbard, who introduced the Stop Arming Terrorists Act, the terms of which her website outlines succinctly: “The legislation would prohibit the U.S. government from using American taxpayer dollars to provide funding, weapons, training, and intelligence support to groups like the Levant Front, Fursan al Ha and other allies of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, al-Qaeda and ISIS, or to countries who are providing direct or indirect support to those same groups.”  Gabbard herself was quoted as saying that the “CIA has also been funneling weapons and money through Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and others who provide direct and indirect support to groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda. This support has allowed al-Qaeda and their fellow terrorist organizations to establish strongholds throughout Syria, including in Aleppo.”

The idea that the latest gas attack in Syria was fabricated by the western military alliance in order to justify intervention in that country clearly outlines how ‘fake’ things are. These fake terrorist attacks, both home and abroad, are not only used to justify military action, but also to take away our rights here at home and justify surveillance and a heightened national security state. This article is not going to go into the Syria attacks, but I put more information in a recent article titled “BBC Producer Blows The Whistle & Admits The “Gas Attack” Footage From Syria “Was Staged.”

Another example of false-flag terrorism would be 9/11, as all of the witness testimonies and published research suggest it was a controlled demolition, and many believe it was orchestrated by the US government.

Think about that for a second: The same powers that claim to be protecting us from and fighting the ‘war on terror’ could be the same ones creating it.

This is why I wanted to share a portion of the work of Smedley Darlington Butler, a United States Marine Corps Major General, the highest rank authorized at that time, and at the time of his death the most decorated Marine in U.S. history.

What better person to hear it from than a source like this?

This is an excerpt from a speech delivered in 1933 by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC. I obtained these excerpts from Dr. Paul Craig Roberts. You can access General Butler’s entire speech here.

War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.

I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we’ll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.

I wouldn’t go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket. There isn’t a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its “finger men” to point out enemies, its “muscle men” to destroy enemies, its “brain men” to plan war preparations, and a “Big Boss” Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.

It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country’s most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.

I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912 (where have I heard that name before?). I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested. During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

The Takeaway

There is intelligent manipulation of human consciousness on several different levels happening, all for the purpose of justifying the state’s actions within the minds of the masses. Who is responsible for this manipulation? It’s the “invisible government,” which has been referred to by countless presidents, politicians and academicians for decades. As the father of public relations Edward Bernay once said, this “invisible government” is the “true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.” (Propaganda, 1928)

The good news? The world is clearly waking up to these facts, so much so that the global elite has started censoring information. Youtube accounts have been demonetized and Facebook reach has been limited for those sharing this kind of information.

The stronghold the elite had over human consciousness was much greater just 10 years ago compared to what it is today. We are finally starting to see the truth. We’re starting to realize that the events taking place on our planet aren’t always presented accurately to us.

Our perception of the planet and what has been happening here is changing, and that’s a very encouraging thought.

We are having a New Moon in Gemini on June 3rd, 2019. It is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month, however, the astrological configurations mentioned in this article will be more prominent over the following two weeks. This cycle will peak with a Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 16th/17th.

We have been in Gemini season since May 21st with its ruler Mercury also in Gemini since the same day. As an Air sign it is socially and mentally oriented, while as a Mutable sign it is versatile, adaptable, and multi-faceted. Mutable signs are the last of each season which is a reflection of its changeable nature to help facilitate a transition from one thing to the next.

Gemini’s energy is curious, communicative, articulate, informative, busy, clever, and dualistic. It has chameleon-like properties and is the sign of multiple expressions or personalities. Gemini is associated with information, learning, writing, commuting, and agility. Negatively, it can be gossipy, superficial, inconsistent, scattered, two faced, unfocused, and lack emotion.

New Moon In Hard Aspect With Jupiter Square Neptune

Jupiter in Sagittarius is square Neptune in Pisces throughout much of 2019. The first exact hit of this energy was in January, the next one is coming in the middle of this month, and the final one will be in mid-late September.

At best this energy can be inspiring and compassionate. Expansive pursuits such as learning or travel may be based around beliefs, faith, spirituality, and creativity. This can be great for mystical experiences and it can also be supportive for creative pursuits such as visual arts/media or music.

However, it is a square which can also reflect the challenging potentials of this energy. We can be unrealistic, overly idealistic, and experience confusion or delusion around perspectives.

We can more easily lack attention to certain details and it is also possible to experience more complications around travel or education when this energy peaks. For some people, overindulging in escapist or intoxicating behavior may also be a theme.

Considering that this New Moon is in a hard aspect with Jupiter and Neptune, it can really trigger  many of the potentials mentioned, both positive and negative. It can also reflect conflict around facts and beliefs. Communication issues and lack of focus can also be a factor. We may also try to overextend ourselves, or be pulled in different directions, but may be be faced with some of the potential complications mentioned above. This energy is strongest from June 8th – 10th.

Venus Trine Pluto, Mercury Sextile Uranus and Square Chiron

During this New Moon and in the days leading up to it, Venus in Taurus is in a trine with Pluto in Capricorn. This can be good for positive developments around relationships (socially or romantically), resources, aesthetics, values, or perhaps even financially as well. It can be regenerating, deep, or passionate. Our connections with others can be more real and less superficial.

Mercury, the ruler of this New Moon, will be going into Cancer almost a day and a half later. It will move towards a sextile to Uranus and a square to Chiron which peaks on June 7th. We can be more intuitive, inventive, and original. Positive surprises may also come up. Our communications can be exciting and stimulating. This can help us to think about things in a different way. Issues around our blockages and wounds may come up and/or it can be a time in which we have creative solutions.

Mars In Aspect With Saturn Sextile Neptune, Eclipses In Next Moon Cycle

Saturn in Capricorn is in a sextile with Neptune in Pisces which began earlier this year and will peak again in mid-June. This is great for taking a structured, disciplined, realistic, or committed approach when it comes to ideals, dreams, inspirations, creativity, spirituality, or even anything that involves selflessness, compassion, or healing.

Mars is moving towards aspects with these two planets. It will be in an opposition to Saturn and trine to Neptune which peaks from June 12th-16th with Mercury also triggering it. This can help us to want to act on our inspirations, however it is also possible that we can face obstacles and frustrations during that time as well. If so, it can potentially push us to change how we need to be assertive to ourselves. Also, Neptune is slowing down to go retrograde on the June 21st which can also reflect potential revisions,

The next New Moon in a month from now will be a Solar Eclipse followed by a Lunar Eclipse in mid-July. Eclipses facilitate changes in specific areas of your life which could play out over a longer period of time depending on different factors. Some are more significant than others for different people.

In the month leading up to eclipses we may start to notice their effects so keep in mind that any major shifts or developments might be connected to them. They can be challenging and/or evolutionary to help us in how we need to progress. I will be writing separate articles on them as we get closer, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive my content.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

What triggers your curiosity and what are the types of things that you’d like to learn more about? Do you need to be more versatile? What can you do to be more original? What inspires you? What are your ideals and is there anything that you can be doing to push some of them closer to reality? In what ways might you be unrealistic?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time; however, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment of it will be occurring at 10:02am Universal Time on June 3rd. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

These days, most of us are concerned about the condition of our world.

The UN just released a dismal “health report” about the state of our planet, which mentions a million species at the edge of extinction. Just today I read about the many starving grey whales beaching themselves on the western coast. And then about how rubber balloons burst in air then fall to the ground where turtles mistake them for jellyfish and eat them. Of course these are just a couple examples of the many environmental problems we face.

To begin to chip away at these issues, many years ago I began taking everyday action to foster solutions. Recently I created the Everyday Activism Facebook Page where we share stories and support one another. It’s a particularly poignant strategy and its mission statement is simple:

“Little effort for big results.”

Or: “Little steps for max change.” This model is for those of us with not enough time. And it’s easy. It just requires some chutzpah (courage and passion).

Stories & Victories

One of the best ways to exert everyday activism is with businesses.

An example: ask a health food store not to carry a product that contains unhealthy ingredients. I asked my local health food store (that also sells cleaning products) not to carry Mrs. Meyer’s soaps; they didn’t realize Mrs. Meyer’s contains synthetic fragrances and other not-so-good-for-us ingredients, as described here in Why I Think Mrs. Meyer’s Stinks. The owners were unaware and glad I told them, so they discontinued the product.

Here’s another real-life example, and one of my favorites because it’s so easy and makes a big difference: You’re out to dinner and you get the rest of your meal to-go. You notice it’s packaged in styrofoam or plastic. Ask to speak to the manager and kindly let them know the dangers of the product and suggest an alternative, such as biodegradable to-go containers. You can also give them the name and contact of a company that carries them, like this one. Or this one. I carry these companies’ contacts on a little business card-like piece of paper I made to give to them!

If businesses complain about the price, you can say you understand, and then follow that with the simple logic: “The environment’s in bad shape; we all have to make inconvenient changes.” Also be sure to tell them they can brag about using earth-friendly products. I’ve done this many times and it’s been well-received.

These simple acts can save tons of wasteful products like plastic and styrofoam each month. And how much time did it take? A few minutes.

Other examples of everyday activism I’ve engaged in include:
1) A petition asking Trader Joe’s not to use synthetic fragrance in their dishwashing liquid and hand soaps
2) A petition to end aerial pesticide spraying in my neighborhood
3) Asking a local restaurant not to use bleach to wipe down tables and offering a powerful antimicrobial Seventh Generation product as a substitute
4) Testifying at the local county government building against new oil rig development and banning Monsanto’s Roundup and other glyphosate products

Easy & Rewarding

Every day we see the sad news on social media. We might respond with a sad or angry emoticon and throw down a few words of compassion. Everyday activism is a way to turn our emoticons into real change . . . just a little effort for big results . . . for you, your children, the thousands of animals we share the planet with, and for the Earth itself.

This replenishing Earth-based meditation practice can help fuel your activist heart for the the natural world.

So, pick something, one thing that really bugs you that really want to change. At breakfast, or right now, think of the best way to make the biggest impact for the least amount of energy. You might fight locally against single use plastics, pesticide spraying, leafblowers, machine noise, or a lack of recycling in local stores. Whatever you’re even mildly passionate about. And it feels good when you get to watch the change happen that you’ve instigated!

Whatever your poison, everyday activism is about making our troubled world our shared concern and healing. It’s about being a humble, local hero and living as a protector for what you love. It’s putting your action where your mouth is. Please visit Everyday Activism and ask for support or tell us your story.

A sign of change? Feelings of frustration? Ulterior motives? These are all ideas that have been coming to the mind of those who have been well aware of the factual reality that UFOs are in fact real, verifiable for at least the last 3 or 4 decades. Denied, ridiculed and made out to be crazy, those who knew now see the mainstream media talking in the plenty about UFOs and are wondering why.

People’s newsfeed have been exploding with UFO headlines for the past 3 or 4 days. I’m not talking about one or two articles here and there, I’m talking about seeing headline after headline to the point where you can’t ignore the fact that someone is going to come up to you and finally say “hey did you see that thing about how UFOs are now real?”

Have a look at just a few I got, all published 3 days ago, from one quick Google search:

UFOs Are Real, But Don’t Assume They’re Alien Spaceships – Space.com

Former US Defense official: We know UFOs are real – here’s why that’s concerning – Fox News

UFOs Exist And Everyone Needs To Adjust To That Fact – Washington Post

When Two Navy Pilots Saw a UFO Shaped ‘Like a Giant Tic Tac’ – The Daily Beast

I don’t think anyone will complain about these admissions, in fact, I feel most welcome it, but there is some nuance to this discussion that is very helpful to understand, especially for those that might be a bit newer to the subject.

Feelings of Frustration

Some people in the UFO community who have been well aware that UFOs are real for the last 20 or 30 years are perhaps going to feel frustrated as now the public decides to listen and take the subject seriously because the mainstream media, who has given no reason for people to trust them, has finally admitted this to be true. This comes after years of denial and making fun of the subject. This is an understandable feeling, and one worthy of processing, but there is something to be inspired about here and getting stuck in this feeling simply won’t serve us for too long.

Ulterior Motives

As Space.com puts it, “Aliens shouldn’t be the default explanation for weird stuff in the sky.” And this is true, the conversation truly is about asking who is manning these craft? They have been around, studied and have been widely documented by government and intelligence agencies for years, but all this hidden from the public.

Why now? Why is there finally admission? Perhaps it’s time humanity finally hears the truth… en masse. Perhaps this is about controlling a narrative that has slowly been getting ‘out of control’ due to the rise of independent media. Millions of people tune into the truth and insight of independent media like us here at Collective Evolution, perhaps those who kept such a tight seal on the UFO/ET subject are now attempting to once again gain the upper hand on how the UFO/ET narrative is told.

Why is that important? Think of it this way, for years and years now, the truth has already been out there in media, just not in the mainstream. Thousands and thousands of declassified government documents have evidently shown UFOs are real, and that has been very clear. But there is one other thing to consider: many documents, military and government whistleblowers also have disclosed that they know some of these craft are manned by ETs. In fact, they are aware that multiple races have been interacting with humanity.

“…with absolute certainty, that four species, four different species, at least, have been visiting this planet for thousands of years. . . . There’s been a lot more activity in the last few decades, since we invented the atomic bomb, and they are very concerned about that, and the fact that we might use it again, because the whole cosmos is a unity and it affects not just us but other people in the cosmos,” – Paul Hellyer, Former Canadian Minister of Defense (source)

For this knowledge to come out would mean not only would there be UFO admission but an admission of ETs. This, however, isn’t happening. Instead, we have been given only a tiny piece to the puzzle, thus controlling the narrative, controlling the disclosure of something everyone has the right to know. Why?

Well, the implications of this knowledge go deep and leave no aspect of humanity untouched. We’re talking changes to core belief systems, religions, and so forth. We’re talking changes to the very robotic nature by which we go about daily life. Not to mention getting into the technological questions that come when we begin to ask how these crafts move and do the maneuvers they do. Can you say free energy? Kicking fossil fuel, wind and solar industries out the window for technology the government has known exists for many decades now.

There is no other way but to say this bluntly: admission of intelligence behind these crafts is too big a threat to the enslaving infrastructures we have, and thus it’s important to control the narrative.

A Sign of Change

Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of this conversation is that we truly can be saying to ourselves “things are changing, perceptions are changing, our minds are opening up.” Which is a good thing.

I have long discussed that the importance of the ET conversation truly lies in consciousness. The fact that humanity’s curiosity about ETs has grown immensely in recent years has an underlying conversation about consciousness that cannot be avoided. I wrote about this in detail in an article titled Why Humanity Is So Obsessed With Finding Aliens Right Now.

To summarize it, we are in a deep search for what we know to be true within ourselves, and that search will expand our way of being and living immensely. It will also help evolve us out of this destructive state we are collectively in.

The core to this conversation is that yes, things are changing enough to the point where the mainstream media and authoritative aspects of our societal infrastructures, like government and mainstream media, must begin to widely admit the reality of subjects like this, but also we must be critical in our thinking about how narratives are trying to be controlled here.

The conversation does not have to stop at UFOs however. Some feel recent admissions are to pave the way for revealing the US’ space force that has already been created, this may be partly true, but we must also look at the discussion of ETs and what we ALREADY know about them.

The Takeaway

Once again, it’s an inspiring time. A time where we are opening up to greater conversations and nothing can slow them down. The question is, will we actively, presently and with awareness learn from our past of trusting mainstream media and government to give us the truth they have hidden for years? Or will we seek to become self-responsible and find this information on our own as independent communities?

I highly recommend checking out the video below as I discuss why this is a conversation of consciousness and breaking through the limits of our society and being more than anything else.

One year ago, America’s first 3D-printed home was unveiled in the city of Austin, Texas. In the time that has passed, the structure has proven itself to be resilient and cost-effective. Now, 50 more of the 3D-printed homes are being constructed for poor families in rural Latin America.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Icon, the tech company that designed the specialized 3D printer, partnered with the Silicon Valley-based nonprofit New Story for the initiative. Currently, they are working on constructing their “first-of-its-kind” neighborhood for Latin American families who make less than $200 per month.

The 3D-printed houses are ideal for low-income families because they are inexpensive to construct, as well as quick to build. To offer perspective, consider that a conventional house may take 4-6 months to build and cost between $300k-$600k. The 3D-printed house, on the other hand, can be constructed for roughly $10,000 and takes just 24 hours to print.

The speedy and inexpensive construction is being facilitated by the Vulcan II. As GoodNewsNetwork reports, the 3D-printer that was designed specifically for building cheap homes. After the first 3D-printed house made headlines in 2018, the researchers spent the following year refining the design. They wanted it to be easier to use, as well as more resistant to outdoor conditions.

According to Icon, the Vulcan II is now commercially available for international use. As soon as next month, the company will begin shipping the printer. Pre-orders are being accepted for 2020.

Icon said in a statement:

“Vulcan II is ready to move out of ICON’s lab and into the world next month to begin its very good work of delivering affordable, resilient dignified housing around the world.”

Vulcan II is the first printer of its kind in that it has the capability of printing homes in which people actually want to live. It can be operated by anyone with basic training thanks to the improvements in automation, mechatronics and a suite of specialized software.”

On the eighth of April, shortly before London police forcibly carried WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange out of the Ecuadorian embassy, a doctor named Sondra S Crosby wrote a letter to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights requesting that the office look into Assange’s case. Today, following a scorching rebukeof multiple governments by UN Special Rapporteur on torture Nils Melzer, mass media outlets around the world are reporting that Julian Assange has been found to be the victim of brutal psychological torture.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Melzer, who by his own admission began his investigation as someone who had “been affected by the same misguided smear campaign as everybody else” regarding Assange, speaks of Assange’s plight with the fresh-eyed ferocity of a man who has not been immersed in a soul-corroding career in establishment politics or mass media. A man has not been indoctrinated into accepting as normal the relentless, malicious character assassinations of the western political/media class against a publisher of inconvenient facts about the powerful. A man who, when looking deeply and objectively into the facts with uncorrupted vision, was able to see clearly just how unforgivably abusive Assange’s treatment has been.

“In 20 years of work with victims of war, violence and political persecution I have never seen a group of democratic States ganging up to deliberately isolate, demonise and abuse a single individual for such a long time and with so little regard for human dignity and the rule of law,” Melzer said. “The collective persecution of Julian Assange must end here and now!”

Melzer condemned attempts to extradite Assange to the US under the Espionage Act, as well as what he called “a relentless and unrestrained campaign of public mobbing, intimidation and defamation against Mr. Assange, not only in the United States, but also in the United Kingdom, Sweden and, more recently, Ecuador.”

“According to the expert, this included an endless stream of humiliating, debasing and threatening statements in the press and on social media, but also by senior political figures, and even by judicial magistrates involved in proceedings against Assange,” the OHCHR statement reads.

“In the course of the past nine years, Mr. Assange has been exposed to persistent, progressively severe abuse ranging from systematic judicial persecution and arbitrary confinement in the Ecuadorian embassy, to his oppressive isolation, harassment and surveillance inside the embassy, and from deliberate collective ridicule, insults and humiliation, to open instigation of violence and even repeated calls for his assassination,” Melzer said.

“It was obvious that Mr. Assange’s health has been seriously affected by the extremely hostile and arbitrary environment he has been exposed to for many years,” said Melzer. “Most importantly, in addition to physical ailments, Mr. Assange showed all symptoms typical for prolonged exposure to psychological torture, including extreme stress, chronic anxiety and intense psychological trauma.”

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

“The evidence is overwhelming and clear,” Melzer said. “Mr. Assange has been deliberately exposed, for a period of several years, to progressively severe forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the cumulative effects of which can only be described as psychological torture.”

“I condemn, in the strongest terms, the deliberate, concerted and sustained nature of the abuse inflicted on Mr. Assange and seriously deplore the consistent failure of all involved governments to take measures for the protection of his most fundamental human rights and dignity,” Melzer added.Sean Love, MD@SeanLoveMD

It is hugely significant that a UN expert has included the massive anti-Assange smear campaign in his assessment of psychological abuse. For far too long this devastating psychological weapon of the powerful has gone fully normalized and unacknowledged for the damage and suffering it causes, and now an authoritative voice has pointed it out and called it into public consciousness for the depraved manipulation that it is. It’s a very interesting development to see western governments and their media stenographers condemned in this way for their participation in such savagery.

Responses to Melzer’s findings have been explosive. Virtually every major media outlet in the English-speaking world has been carrying headlines about this story, from the New York Times to the Washington Post to Fox News to CNN to the Guardian to the BBC to the Herald Sun. An attempt to regain control of the narrative by the accused governments, therefore, was of course quick to follow.

“This is wrong,” tweeted Britain’s Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt in response to the story. “Assange chose to hide in the embassy and was always free to leave and face justice. The UN Special Rapporteur should allow British courts to make their judgements without his interference or inflammatory accusations.”

Abusers always demand the right to conduct their abuse in private.

Hunt, who’d just returned from hanging out with the Trump administration’s warmongering psychopath John Bolton, received a direct response from Melzer himself.

“With all due respect, Sir: Mr Assange was about as ‘free to leave’ as a someone sitting on a rubber boat in a shark pool,” Melzer tweeted. “As detailed in my formal letter to you, so far, UK courts have not shown the impartiality and objectivity required by the rule of law.”

Australia, another of the governments accused of facilitating Assange’s torture, was also quick to issue an equally feeble response.

“We reject any suggestion by the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture that the Australian Government is complicit in psychological torture or has shown a lack of consular support for Mr Assange,” reads a statement by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. “The Special Rapporteur has not been in contact with the Australian Government to raise these concerns directly. The Australian Government is a staunch defender of human rights and a strong advocate for humane treatment in the course of judicial processes. We are confident that Mr Assange is being treated appropriately in Belmarsh Prison.”

Assange has in fact grown so ill in Belmarsh Prison that he is reportedly unable to carry out a lucid conversation, and has been losing a drastic amount of weight. His failing health has been an established fact for a year and a half, with doctors warning at the beginning of last year that conditions in the Ecuadorian embassy are placing his physical wellbeing in serious danger, and has the entire time been pathetically ignored by the government of Assange’s home country.

Melzer’s report is an indictment of our entire society. It’s an indictment of the US-centralized western power alliance. It’s an indictment of the politicians, opaque government agencies and plutocrats who lead that alliance. It’s an indictment of the mass media who regurgitate whatever their government tells them to into the minds of a credulous populace. It’s an indictment of everyone who has ever helped spread the smear campaign against Assange, wherever they may have spread it; every remark, every social media comment, every share and retweet. The entire abusive construct has been outed as exactly what it is, from top to bottom.

(function(w,d,s,i){w.ldAdInit=w.ldAdInit||[];w.ldAdInit.push({slot:10162674340441958,size:[0, 0],id:"ld-8962-3608"});if(!d.getElementById(i)){var j=d.createElement(s),p=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];j.async=true;j.src="//cdn2.lockerdomecdn.com/_js/ajs.js";j.id=i;p.parentNode.insertBefore(j,p);}})(window,document,"script","ld-ajs");

So things have been severely shaken up. A massive smear campaign spanning all western nations across all political sectors has been pulled into the spotlight of public consciousness, mass media outlets who’ve devoted huge amounts of resources to assassinating Assange’s character have been forced to report a major revelation coming directly from the United Nations, Assange supporters can now officially say with full authority that his persecutors have literally tortured him, and establishment narrative managers are fighting on the back foot.

For the record: I never said I considered #JulianAssange „a bad actor“ but that, initially, I had been affected by the same misguided smear campaign as everybody else, and only saw the real facts once I investigated in detail @isaacstanbecker @wapohttps://t.co/rganswxt2z

— Nils Melzer (@NilsMelzer) May 31, 2019

And right now all I can feel is gratitude. Gratitude toward Dr Crosby for writing to the UN after examining Assange, gratitude toward Nils Melzer for going to visit him in Belmarsh with an open mind and a compassionate heart, and, most importantly, gratitude toward Julian Assange. Gratitude to him for never giving up this fight.

I mean, think about it. Imagine if Assange had just gone to Sweden when he was told to? He would have surely been extradited to the United States years ago, wrongfully prosecuted in an Eastern District of Virginia court proceeding impossibly rigged against him, and by now the world would have all but forgotten him. He could have laid down, he could have given up, he could have died in that embassy in any number of ways. He had so many off-ramps he could have taken from the psychological torture that he has been subjected to since exposing US war crimes in 2010, but he chose to stand and fight instead. He decided that if they wanted his head, they were going to have to work for it.

Because of that decision, because Julian Assange decided to stand his ground and trade blows toe-to-toe with the most powerful empire in the history of human civilization, he forced them to expose themselves. He forced the oppression machine to reveal its true face, by coordinating across national borders to drag him bodily out of the embassy, locking him in a cage, waging a war upon the free press with outrageous espionage charges, and finally being found guilty of torturing a journalist for publishing factual documents about the powerful.

We have all that information now. It can’t be unseen. Because Assange chose to fight, we now have that evidence and we can use it to help wake people up to the true face behind the smiling mask of “liberal democracy” we’ve all been told to believe in since grade school. Even while imprisoned, sick, and barely even able to speak, Julian Assange is still exposing these bastards for what they are.

While this article focuses on light-emitting diode (LED) lights please understand that compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are far worse. Not only do they have the same digital light problems as LEDs but they also have mercury in them and cause dirty electricity in the 62 KHz range. If you have any fluorescent bulbs in your home you would be strongly advised to carefully replace them because if you break the bulb there are certain precautions you need to take to clean it up.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has special rules for cleaning up broken CFLs, which include opening windows, airing out the room and shutting off the heat or air conditioning for several hours, so as not to disturb the leaked mercury. You also are to call your local government about proper disposal of the fragments — and when in doubt to call a poison control center.1

Energy-saving LED lights2 have several detrimental biological effects. For example, as explained by photobiology expert, Dr. Alexander Wunsch, in our 2016 interview (above), LED light:

  • Emits aggressive blue light that can generate high amounts of oxidative stress that contributes to visual deterioration, and is devoid of near-infrared light that would help counteract some of that damage.
  • Negatively affects mitochondrial function and may therefore exacerbate health problems rooted in mitochondrial dysfunction, including metabolic disorder and cancer.
  • If viewed at night can suppress your melatonin production, thereby disrupting sleep, which can have far-reaching consequences for your health, including raising your risk of insulin resistance (which in turn raises your risk of myopia3 and many other conditions and diseases).
  • Can prevent the priming of retinal cells for repair and regeneration (since it does not have any healing near-infrared frequencies), thereby raising your risk of vision problems, including age-related macular degeneration4 (AMD), a leading cause of blindness among people over 50. AMD refers to damage to the macula, a small spot near the center of the retina that’s needed for sharp central vision.

The risks of LEDs to your vision in particular are highlighted in two reports by the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES). The first one, a 282-page report5,6,7issued in 2010 (the full report8 is only available in French, but an opinion summary paper9 is available in English on anses.fr.), and a 400-page report10,11,12 issued April 2019, available only in French.

While separated by nine years, the conclusion of the second report appears to be unchanged from, and supports the opinion of the first. Considering incandescent light bulbs are being phased out both in the U.S. and European Union (EU), it’s important to understand the health ramifications of the replacements, which include LEDs. As noted by ANSES in 2010:13

“LED technology, which has certain advantages compared to other types of lighting (energy efficiency, life span), is changing rapidly. It has a wide range of applications including public, domestic and commercial lighting, sport facilities, indicator lamps (toys, signposting, etc.), vehicle lighting, and therapeutic products (light therapy).

However, the quality of the light emitted by these lamps (color temperature, color rendering index) does not always provide the same level of performance as other sources of lighting.

The intense wavelengths in the blue part of the spectrum of light emitted by some LEDs, and the associated radiation intensity, raise the question of new health risks related to these sources of light. In view of this situation, the Agency issued a formal internal request to assess the health effects of LED-based lighting systems.”

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

LED Light Is Photo-Toxic, French Assessment Concludes

According to the ANSES reports, exposure to intense blue LED light — such as that emitted from newer flashlights and car headlights — is phototoxic and capable of causing diminished sharpness of vision due to irreversible loss of retinal cells. “Warm white” LED lighting, however, was found to have weak phototoxicity, which is precisely what you would predict as it has far less blue light.

An American review14 published in 2016 echoes these findings, concluding LEDs with a wavelength below 455 nanometers in the blue light range is damaging to the eyes in the long term. This paper also addresses the impact of blue light on the circadian rhythm. The two issues — your circadian rhythm and vision — are actually closely linked.

In an email, lead author Gianluca Tosini told CNN15 “There are blue light photoreceptors in the retina that directly communicate with the brain circadian clock,” and that “exposure to light in the evening affect sleep and circadian rhythms mostly by inhibiting the synthesis of the sleep promoting hormone melatonin.”

As explained by Wunsch, certain retinal cells also produce melatonin that helps regenerate your retina during the night. If you use LED lights after sunset, you actually reduce the natural regenerative and restoring capacities of your eyes. Needless to say, with less regeneration you end up with degeneration. In this case, the degeneration can lead to AMD, which is the primary cause of blindness among the elderly.

On top of that, as you age, your retina accumulates fluorescent molecules called lipofuscin, which are sensitive to blue light. Janet Sparrow,16 Ph.D., professor of ophthalmic sciences at Columbia University, told CNN,17 “Early evidence suggests that this light sensitivity may lead to unhealthy optical responses over the long term.”

Brightness Density and High Proportion of Blue Light Identified as Core Dangers

As noted in ANSES’ English opinion summary from 2010:18

Strong components in the blue part of the spectrum of light emitted by the LEDs, as well as the associated intensity of the radiation, raise the issue of new health risks related to these sources of lighting. Some scientific studies [Dawson et al., 2001, Ueda et al., 2009], based on laboratory experiments with blue LEDs conducted on monkeys, give reason to suspect a danger for the retina related to exposure to light-emitting diodes.

As a result of the analysis of the existing scientific literature and the information collected during the additional hearings, potential health issues related to the use of LEDs were identified.

Those of greatest concern, due to both the severity of the corresponding dangers and the probability of their occurring as a result of the increasingly widespread use of LEDs, relate to the photochemical effects of blue light on the eye and the glare phenomenon. They result from:

the spectral imbalance in LEDs (high proportion of blue light in white LEDs)

the very high luminance of LEDs (high brightness density per surface unit emitted by these very small sources).

The photochemical risk is associated with blue light, and depends on the accumulated dose to which the person has been exposed, which is generally the result of low intensity exposure repeated over long periods. There is a high level of proof of such a risk.

Evidence from human observation and experimental studies on cell cultures and various animal species has converged to demonstrate the specific toxicity of shortwave (blue) light to the retina.

Blue light is therefore recognised as being harmful and dangerous to the retina, as a result of cellular oxidative stress. There is a strong suspicion that blue light aggravates age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), based on converging observations on experimental models.”

The report also noted that the stroboscopic effects in some LED lights may induce headaches and visual fatigue, which could also lead to a higher risk of accidents.

High-Risk Groups Identified

ANSES identified the following population groups as being at particularly high risk from LED exposure, either because they are extra sensitive to the type of light emitted by LEDs, or because of their unusually high levels of exposure:

  • Children, due to the transparency of the lenses in their eyes
  • Those with aphakia, i.e., people who are missing a lens on one or both of their eyes, either due to a wound, ulcer, congenital anomaly or surgical removal
  • Pseudophakics, i.e., those with artificial crystalline lenses, “who consequently either cannot or can only insufficiently filter short wavelengths (particularly blue light)”
  • Light-sensitive individuals, including those with AMD and certain skin diseases, and those taking photosensitizing drugs
  • Workers exposed to extreme levels of blue light, such as lighting installers, theatre and film industry professionals
Standards Need Adjustment

ANSES concluded the EU standard, NF EN 62471,19,20 set in 2009, which addresses the “photobiological safety of lamps and apparatus using lamps” in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 3,000 nm, is inadequate for LEDs for three reasons:21

  1. “The maximum exposure limits … used to define the Risk Groups are not appropriate for repeated exposure to blue light as they were calculated for exposure of one 8-hour day and do not take into account the possibility of exposure over an entire lifetime.
  2. It contains ambiguities concerning the measurement protocols for allocating Risk Groups: the same LED could be assigned to different Risk Groups if considered individually or if integrated in a lighting system, as the evaluation distance imposed by the standard could be different.
  3. It does not take into account the sensitivity of certain specific population groups (children, aphakics, pseudophakics, etc.)”

Among its many recommendations, to protect the general public and the workforce, ANSES suggested:

  • Limiting the sale of LEDs for domestic use to “warm white” LED light bulbs and low-risk LED devices
  • Limiting overall exposure to LEDs and avoiding LED screens before bedtime
  • Reducing the luminosity of car headlights
  • Regulating the installation of certain higher risk lighting systems such that they would be limited to “professional uses, under conditions in which risks can be prevented”

ANSES also suggested manufacturers should “design lighting systems in which beams of light emitted by LEDs cannot be seen directly,” to reduce intensity and glare, and recommended adaptations to the current standard on the photobiological safety of lamps to take the special characteristics of LEDs, their potential hazards and high-risk groups into account.

As far as I can tell, no amendments have been made to the standard in the years since ANSES report came out, which just goes to show how long dangers can be known without any regulatory action being taken, and why safety regulations cannot always be trusted as the final word on safety.

Can Blue-Blocking Glasses Help?

When it comes to the question of whether wearing blue-blocking glasses is a viable solution against all this blue light exposure, research findings are mixed.

A systematic review22 published in Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics in 2017, which included three studies with 136 participants, concluded there was “a lack of high quality evidence to support using BB [blue-blocking] spectacle lenses for the general population to improve visual performance or sleep quality, alleviate eye fatigue or conserve macular health.”

Others disagree. The Harvard Health Letter, published by Harvard Medical School, recommends the use of blue-blocking glasses in evening hours if you have a lot of bright lighting or use LED screens.23A number of studies have also found blue-blocking glasses impart valuable benefits, especially with regards to sleep quality. Following are a few examples:

•A 2006 study24 that found blue-blocking glasses “represent an elegant means to prevent the light‐induced melatonin suppression, adding that “Further studies are needed to show that these glasses … could facilitate adaptation to night work.”

•A pilot study25 published in 2010 did just that, finding the use of blue-blocking glasses during the day, along with blue-green light exposure at night, improved adaptation to night shift work by improving “sleep, vigilance and performance.”

•A 2009 study26 in Chronobiology International found wearing amber (blue-blocking) glasses for three hours before sleep for two weeks significantly improved sleep quality and mood compared to controls who used yellow-tinted (UV-blocking only) lenses.

•A 2015 study27 in the Journal of Adolescent Health found blue-blockers significantly attenuated LED-induced melatonin suppression in the evening and decreased vigilant attention and subjective alertness before bedtime” in 15- to 17-year-old males, leading the authors to conclude that:

“BB glasses may be useful in adolescents as a countermeasure for alerting effects induced by light exposure through LED screens and therefore potentially impede the negative effects modern lighting imposes on circadian physiology in the evening.”

Blue-Blocking Glasses May Help Relieve Eye Strain

Research28 published in 2017 also contradicts Cochrane’s assessment that no high-quality evidence exists showing blue-blockers can relieve eyestrain. Here, participants who wore short wavelength-blocking glasses during two hours of computer work exhibited less visual fatigue and had fewer symptoms of visual discomfort compared to those wearing clear lenses. As noted in this study:

“Light toxicity to the retina is well established and occurs when excess light exposure causes photochemical, photomechanical, and photothermal damage. Some groups have reported that short-wavelength light may be particularly hazardous to the retina.

For example, Kuse et al. found that visible light-induced damage in photoreceptor-derived cells is wavelength-dependent: short-wavelength light in the blue spectrum had a more severe toxic effect compared to either white or green light.

These findings are consistent with other studies showing that retinal damage induced by LEDs in animal models show similar wavelength dependence. Other groups have shown that this phototoxicity can be attenuated by blocking blue light in cell models6 and in animal models …

Some human studies have shown that chronic subthreshold exposure to blue light may, indeed, have clinically relevant consequences. For example, although short-wavelength light also has been shown to be important for setting circadian rhythms, excessive exposure to blue light also has been suggested to be a major cause of eye strain. Consistently, Isono et al. reported that short wavelength-emitting devices contribute to visual fatigue …

Numerous groups have explored the possibility that lenses that block short-wavelength light may reduce these health hazards. Ayaki et al. demonstrated that wearing short-wavelength light-reducing eyeglasses when using electronic devices at night improves sleep quality and increases overnight melatonin secretion.

Similarly, Ide et al. found that wearing short-wavelength light-blocking eyeglasses during intensive computer tasks reduces eye fatigue and symptoms of eye strain.”

A primary goal of this study was to test the hypothesis that blue-blockers lessen eyestrain in a North American population. High-blocking glasses performed better than low-blocking ones. In fact, “subjects wearing high-blocking eyeglasses had even less fatigue after compared to before the task,” the authors state, adding that:

“Overall, these findings supported our assertion that high-blocking glasses do, indeed, appear to attenuate eye fatigue associated with computer use, even after controlling for confounding variables, such as age, sex, and contact lens use …

These findings not only validated past studies that have reported that short-wavelength light-blocking eyewear may attenuate eye strain, but also extended these findings to a North American population.

In addition, although a formal double-blind study design is impossible given the nature of the experiment, our rigorous study design, including careful control of experimental conditions (e.g., monitoring subjects for the duration of the task, standardizing testing room conditions, testing subjects at roughly the same time of day), minimized the risks of potential confounding factors.”

For Optimal Health, Address Your Daily Light Exposure

In my view, there’s ample evidence and sound science showing cool white LED lighting is a bad idea, from a health standpoint. While it may save you a few dollars on your electric bill, it could significantly impact your medical costs, not to mention quality of life, in the long run.

However they should be fine in areas that are infrequently used. The majority of bulbs in my home are LED but the ones in areas that I use all the time — my bedroom, kitchen and bathroom — are all incandescent. The LEDs in other rooms are frequently left on accidentally by guests and cleaners and when they are they don’t cause loads of lost energy.

To learn more about the ins and outs of LEDs and what makes this type of light so detrimental, please listen to my interview with Wunsch, embedded at the top, or read through the original article. Light is a vastly underestimated health factor. It’s more important than people realize, especially for healthy vision and sleep.

The good news is this is an area where most people still have a great deal of control — at least until you can no longer purchase incandescent light bulbs. To optimize your daily light exposure, keep these four key considerations in mind:

1.Replace LEDs in key areas that have night lighting with incandescent light bulbs — In areas where you spend most of your time during the day and evening, such as your kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, swap out your LEDs for regular incandescent light bulbs, and leave the LEDs for areas such as hallways, closets, garage and porch, where your exposure to them is minimal.

2.Get bright, natural light exposure during the day — To get good sleep, you need properly aligned circadian rhythms, and step No. 1 is to make sure you get a sufficient dose of bright light exposure during the daytime. Your pineal gland produces melatonin roughly in approximation to the contrast of bright sun exposure in the day and complete darkness at night.

If you’re in darkness all day long, your body can’t appreciate the difference and will not optimize melatonin production. Ideally, to help your circadian system reset itself, get at least 10 to 15 minutes of light first thing in the morning.

This will send a strong message to your internal clock that day has arrived, making it less likely to be confused by weaker light signals later on. Then, around solar noon, get another 30 to 60 minutes’ worth of sunlight.

3.Avoid blue enriched light at night — Melatonin acts as a marker of your circadian phase or biological timing. Normally, your brain starts progressively increasing the hormone melatonin around 9 or 10 p.m., which makes you sleepy. Somewhere between 50 and 1,000 lux is the activation range within which light will begin to suppress melatonin production.

However, wavelength is also important. Red and amber lights will not suppress melatonin while blue, green and white lights will. So, be sure to avoid the blue light wavelength after sunset. This includes artificial light, and light emitted by electronics such as your TV, computer and other electronic screens.

There are a number of ways to avoid blue enriched light in the evening depending on your lifestyle and personal preferences, including the following suggestions. You can also learn more by reviewing my 2014 interview with researcher Dan Pardi.

  • Turn off or dim all lights after sunset, and avoid watching TV or using light emitting electronics for at least one hour before bedtime (ideally two hours or more).
  • After sundown, shift to a low-wattage bulb with yellow, orange or red light if you need illumination. A salt lamp illuminated by a 5-watt bulb is an ideal solution that will not interfere with your melatonin production.
  • If using a computer, smartphone or tablet, install blue light-blocking software like Iris,29 or use amber colored glasses that block blue light.30

4.Sleep in complete darkness — Once it’s time to go to sleep, make sure your bedroom is as dark as possible. Exposure to room light during sleep has been shown to suppress melatonin by more than 50 percent,31 but even a small amount of light can decrease your melatonin. Simply closing your eyes is not enough as light can penetrate your eyelids.

If blackout shades are too great an investment, a sleep mask can do the job for far less money. Also keep in mind that digital alarm clocks with an LED display could have a detrimental effect, so either swap out your clock, or cover the display.

Alternatives include a sun alarm clock, which wakes you up by gradually increasing the intensity of light, thereby simulating sunrise, or a talking alarm clock,32 designed for the visually impaired.

Are ultra-processed foods like savory snacks, frozen meals and soft drinks really bad for your health? A pair of European studies published Wednesday gives fresh evidence that you are better off avoiding them.

The studies, which both appeared in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), followed groups of people over a period of time in France and Spain and found that those who ate more factory-made foods were at greater risk for heart disease and early death respectively.

This is concerning because these foods are becoming a larger part of people’s diets.

“Ultraprocessed foods already make up more than half of the total dietary energy consumed in high-income countries such as USA, Canada and the UK,” senior author of the Spanish study and professor of preventive medicine and public health at the Universidad de Navarra Maira Bes-Rastrollo wrote in an email to CNN. “In the case of Spain, consumption of ultraprocessed food almost tripled between 1990 and 2010.”

So what exactly did the studies find?

Early Death

The study Bes-Rastrollo participated in followed nearly 20,000 volunteers aged 20 to 91 between 1999 and 2014, asking them detailed questions about the food they ate every two years. It found that those who ate more than four servings a day of highly-processed foods were 62 percent more likely to die early. That risk went up 18 percent for every extra serving of factory-made food they consumed.

Bes-Rastrollo told CNN her study showed results that agreed with other studies in France and the U.S., which, to her, lent “support” to the idea that ultra-processed diets actually cause ill health.

Disease Risk

The French study, conducted by the University of Paris, followed more than 105,000 people over five years. It found that, for every 10 percent increase in the amount of ultra-processed foods someone consumed, their risk of heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular disease rose around 12 percent, according to The Guardian. The difference in outcome between low and high processed diets was not huge — the results indicated there would be 277 cases of heart disease for every 100,000 people who consumed lots of high-processed foods compared to 242 cases for every 100,000 people who did not. But study author Mathilde Touvier told The Guardian there was enough of a difference to justify abstaining from high-processed snacks.

“The public should avoid these foods as much as they can,” she said. “We need to go back to more basic diets.”

What Are Ultra-Processed Foods?

Researchers classified foods according to something called the NOVA classification system, which puts foods in four categories based on how they are made, as CNN explained:

The “unprocessed or minimally processed” food category included fruits, vegetables, legumes, milk, eggs, meats, poultry, fish and seafood, yogurt, grains (white rice and pasta) and natural juice. Salt, sugar, honey, olive oil, butter and lard were listed in the category of “processed ingredients,” while “processed foods” included cheeses, breads, beer, wine, cured traditional ham and bacon. The final category encompassed ultraprocessed foods such as flan, chorizo, sausages, mayonnaise, potato chips, pizza, cookies, chocolates and candies, artificially sweetened beverages and whisky, gin and rum.

The two studies follow other research suggesting that these highly-processed foods are bad for human health. A previous study had linked consuming them to increased cancerrisk, according to a BMJ editorial published alongside Wednesday’s studies.

“These findings add to growing evidence of an association between ultra-processed food and adverse health outcomes that has important implications for dietary advice and food policies,” editorial authors Mark A. Lawrence and Phillip I. Baker wrote. “The dietary advice is relatively straightforward: eat less ultra-processed food and more unprocessed or minimally processed food.”

Why these foods are harmful is still a question for further research. A U.S. National Institutes of Health study suggested processed foods might encourage people to eat more. Researchers monitored all the food eaten by volunteers for a month and found that they ate 500 more calories a day when given the ultra-processed items, BBC News reported.

Other possibilities include the fact that these foods lack nutrients and fiber, are easy to eat, are more immediately attractive than healthier options and contain food additives that, while tested for safety individually, may have harmful effects when eaten in combination, BBC News said.

However, some question the “ultra-processed” category. Biochemist and University of Reading Associate Professor of Nutrition and Health Gunter Kuhnle said the studies were “very well and thoroughly conducted,” but thought the NOVA categories were not clear.

“While ‘ultra-processed’ food is commonly assumed to be food that is extensively processed … it actually contains foods which undergo few processing steps, such as hamburgers, crisps or chips, or those that contain preservatives that have been used for centuries such as preserves,” he wrote, as CNN reported. “It is also not obvious why salami is considered to be ultra-processed, yet cheese, which often requires considerably more processing steps and additives, is not.”

Ben & Jerry’s, the Vermont-based occasionally political ice cream company, is ready to jump into the CBD game as soon as the non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid is legal in all 50 U.S. states. As of now, an FDA regulation prevents the cannabidiol from being added to both food and beverages.

The company announced on Thursday it’s “commitment to including CBD in its ice cream innovations,” in a press release.

While it may seem like the logical next step for a company manufacturing flavors such as Cherry Garcia, Half Baked and Magic Brownies, the issue is less about expanding on those groovy flavors and more about the fact that activism is “in the DNA of Ben & Jerry’s,” according to 2018 CNBC interview with CEO Matthew McCarthy.

Ben & Jerry’s is poised to jump on the CBD bandwagon as soon as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows. It is currently illegal under the Food Drug & Commerce Act to add CBD or THC to food and to market it as a dietary supplement.

However, some states are independently dealing with the legality of CBD-infused foods and beverages. Earlier this week, the Arizona Supreme Court unanimously ruled that cannabis extracts—including infused food and beverages—are legal in the state. But for a manufacturer that produces products sold nationwide, the idea has to wait on the back burner until given a green light by the feds.

This isn’t the first time Ben & Jerry’s has mentioned the possibility of adding the cannabidiol to ice cream. Back in 2015, founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield spoke with HuffPost Liveand hinted at the possibility.

Makes sense to me,” Cohen said at the time. “Combine your pleasures.”

Barring any hiccups in the process, Ben & Jerry’s may not have to wait much longer. A public hearing is set to take place today, May 31st, to discuss the full legalization of CBD, to which Ben & Jerry’s has submitted comment.

FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said the move is part of a larger effort to build “lawful pathways by which appropriate products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds can be marketed.

Hopefully the FDA will consider Ben & Jerry’s CBD-infused ice cream to be an appropriate product. And when that happens, Ben & Jerry’s will likely source the CBD used from Vermont, according to the Guardian.

McCarthy said in a statement:

We’re doing this for our fans. We’ve listened and brought them everything from Non-Dairy indulgences to on-the-go portions with our Pint Slices. We aspire to love our fans more than they love us and we want to give them what they’re looking for in a fun, Ben & Jerry’s way.”

A message on the Ben and Jerry’s website reads:

You probably already know that we’re fans of all things groovy. So it’s no surprise that we can’t wait to get into the latest food trend: cannabidiol, or CBD. We are committed to bringing CBD-infused ice cream to your freezer as soon as it’s legalised at the federal level.”

The company is also urging its fans to contact the FDA to voice their support for modifying the current regulations.
